There was snow

I woke up this morning at the wee pre-crack of dawn stumbled into the living room and glanced out the window, "Ahhh!" It was heartfelt, raised a sleepy, "What's wrong?" from the bedroom. "Look out the window." "Ah, there's snow."

It's not really that I hate snow. Snow has done nothing to me personally -unless you count that morning when the roads were so slick that I slid right into that guy at the stoplight as I was returning from driving my son across town to his school. It's quiet, somber, blankets the world with a still blanced beauty.

As long as you don't have to go out into it.

Then it sucks.

 I miss this already:
 Summertime...
Come back!!!!

  1. Oh brrrr. We'll be getting some of that cold down here in Texas. Not a freeze yet, but into the 40s.

  2. Oh, no - got shivers just reading this..... I took a long walk today and it was a beautiful, bright sunshine, amazing colors in all the trees..and the temperature was around 58F. I know though that very soon we'll have to face that first morning, too, when you sense something has changed, something in the light when you wake up in the morning....and there it is, again. Winter.

    1. It was miserable. A rare winter feel at the beginning of October. I was despairing. We'll just have to get through it together Zella!

  5. I love snow from a distance. I don't miss driving in it. I do miss the way it makes the world grow quiet, though. I'm in shock that it's October!!

    1. Me too (although our earliest snow was in early (or mid?) October. I can't hardly stand it. At least it was warmer today...

  6. Up here in BC we are enjoying what I'm sure is the last of the summer. I guess I should make the most of it while it lasts.

  7. I can't believe it's snowing for you already! I was surprised this morning because, for the first time, I really needed a jacket. ;-)

    Your summer is so pretty!

    1. I don't see how you can stand the winds in Chicago, Michael. That would completely undo me. I hate cold, moist wind in the winter more than I hate... icy roads. And that's saying something.
