Part of it was The Weather
Tuesday hail started pouring down and pummeling cars. (I was checking on my car a bit anxiously- it's in the back of the lot)
Sirens were going off and we all headed to the community room for 30-45 minute intervals. All in all we got to have this much fun three times this week with 7 tornadoes being spotted in the Denver area on Wednesday.
Washington Post
We are not in Tornado Alley and I can't remember ever having this many tornado warnings this many days in a row. It was reminded me of being a kid in Oklahoma and Kansas! To top it off we had a meeting I'd forgotten with our new manager on Wednesday (tornado day) when we also had interviews and that afternoon I was asked to cover...
Book Babies is our singing/story time for 0-2 year old and I've never even been in the room during that time. But we had no one else to do it and it needed to be done on Friday. Now I'm not a complete novice... I taught pre-school back in... deep time. But I haven't hokey pokied in ages so I was going to have to limber up and ungrease those wheels. I've been spending my working hours counting beans, making the schedule, and making sure stuff is getting done. I am not used to playtime at work. Major brain shift. To make it more complicated I was making a deposit just before I went in to play and my deposit was short! GACK!!!
To end the week on a further uncomfortable note, a job posting came up for a new position in a different library system. It's a little nerve wrecking even thinking about putting in an application but sometimes you have to stretch your wings...
Speaking of which, time to do some editing and writing. What new things are coming your way?

That is some scary weather! Glad we don't get anything like that around here. As for the position, there's no harm in trying, is there?
ReplyDeleteNo harm trying. I just put in the app. Cross fingers!
DeleteOh my goodness, glad you're safe after that crazy weather ! That picture from Washington Post looks surreal - yet fascinating. Hope this week will bring you sunshine and calm weather :)
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the sunshine! At least a whole day of it... lots a tumultuous skies.
DeleteI'm glad we don't have any crazy weather here. Winters are long enough and cold enough without adding hail and tornadoes to the mix!
ReplyDeleteHope you're getting to enjoy the long weekend :)
It gets to be a lot, yeah? Snow a couple of weeks ago and now this?!?!? Yikes!
DeleteWe have blessed rain today, no hail or tornadoes, thankfully! Hope all is well with you!! XO
ReplyDeleteGood to see you, lovely! XOXOX
DeleteYikes, those tornadoes! We've had some strange weather here too but as of today, it's status quo. Triple-digits with signs of the monsoons on the horizon (which we love, because that means rain).
ReplyDeleteAnd they keep denying things are changing in the climate...Key West hasn't had a hurricane in years, touch wood.
ReplyDeleteI feel like stretching my wings now that I've settled in a job for six years. The only place for me to do so is probably school, so I'm contemplating going back for a Master's in Rehabilitation. Maybe it will open some doors that are closed right now.
ReplyDeleteTornadoes make me shudder. I experienced one when we lived in No. Va. The DC area could have some really violent weather - heavy rain that felt like a swimming pool being dumped on you, snow & lightening, mini twisters, etc... Glad you're safe.
ReplyDeleteHope you found some help. I think about teaching sometimes. I like to teach. But I don't think I could handle a bunch of kids all day long. I'd have no energy left for writing.
That weather is just crazy! We only have changes in hot and cold here in California.

That sort of weather is just fascinating to me - we don't get tornadoes where I live, generally. I know they're dangerous and deadly, but they are just so awe-inspiring to me.
ReplyDeleteSo that picture basically rocks, in my world.
Sorry you've felt like you're in chaos, though - that isn't a comfortable position to be in!
That's a lot of tornados. Fabulous shot of the dark sky!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what a tornado warning sounds like. We just don't get them here in Utah. And when one does happen to show up once in a blue moon, they blame it on gay marriage.
